How many times have you gone to the store, stood in the aisles, and just stared at the chips, cookies, and candy?

We get it, junk food is highly addictive, tastes really good, and is so incredibly tempting.

But, we also know how bad it is for us and that we should probably go for snacks that have less sugar, sodium, and processed garbage.

While we’re not saying you should cut out all junk food for the rest of your life (you’re only human, after all), there are some great healthy snacks out there that can take its place.

Read on to learn about some healthy snack alternatives that will still satisfy your cravings.

Popcorn

Instead of grabbing the chips, go make some popcorn for yourself instead! Pop some on the stove with a little bit of olive oil and some light salt.

Popcorn is high in fiber and is a low-calorie option that will satisfy that salty craving. Just make sure not to douse it in butter!

Frozen Fruit

While ice cream is always tempting as dessert, fruit can be just as satisfying. In fact, freeze bananas and then blend them together to get an ice cream alternative!

And, if you’re looking to get a little crazy, melt a little bit of dark chocolate and drizzle that on top. Bam, you’ve got yourself an ice cream sundae.

You can also freeze grapes for a refreshing snack, or eat frozen blueberries with a little bit of plain yogurt and some honey.

Chip Alternatives

Chip alternatives have really become popular in recent years, with kale chips, okra chips, and even sweet potato chips being sold in stores.

If you don’t want to buy pre-packaged chip alternatives, you can easily make these chips at home!

With kale chips, all you need to do is break apart little pieces, sprinkle some salt and olive oil on top, and then bake them in the oven until they are crispy.

Beef Jerky

Beef jerky is a great snack option, especially when you’re on a road trip.

Make sure to check the back of the package to pick the one that has the lowest amount of sugar and preservatives.

When you’re in a pinch and don’t have a lot of variety, jerky is a good way to go.

Veggies and Dip

Sometimes you just have to go for the chips and queso, but if you’re wanting a healthier option, dip veggie sticks instead.

Cut up cucumbers, carrots, and zucchini and keep them in your fridge for whenever you’re wanting salsa, guacamole, or cheese dip.
