You know what they say — breakfast is the most important meal of the day! So why do so many of us choose to skip it?

While it’s easy to forgo breakfast, especially if you’re rushing out the door or are late taking your kids to school, it can lead to bad eating habits for the rest of the day.

Not only will you probably lack energy, choosing to skip breakfast could leave to overeating as the day progresses.

So, instead of saying no to breakfast, here are some healthy (and delicious) ideas for your next morning meal.

Oatmeal

We know, we know, oatmeal seems like a boring meal. But, if done right, oatmeal can actually be incredibly delicious.

It’s not just low in calories, but it’s also shown to help lower cholesterol and it will keep you full throughout the day!

Adding peanut butter, bananas, blueberries, honey, and even cinnamon into your oatmeal will not only make it taste delicious, but it will give you even more nutrients.

Eggs

The great thing about eggs is you can have them a number of different ways. Whether you prefer them scrambled, fried, hard-boiled, or poached, eggs will give you a great source of protein.

Plus, you can add so many different things to your eggs, whether that’s vegetables, meat, or cheese, to make them taste even better.

Fruit, Fruit, and More Fruit

Like we mentioned above, it’s easy to forget about breakfast if you’re running late and need to get out of the house ASAP.

If you’re always on the go and need a quick and easy breakfast, keep a variety of fruit in your fridge.

That way, when you only have 30 seconds to grab breakfast, you can take a banana, apple, or orange and head out the door without any time wasted.

Though this option may not keep you full as long as eggs or oatmeal would, it’s certainly better than nothing!

Smoothies

Another great option if you’re on the go is a smoothie. While this may take a little bit of time to blend up in the morning, it’s something you can eat in the car, on the train, or on your walk to wherever you need to go.

Throw in some greens (spinach or kale), some fruit, and even some protein powder or nut butter and you’ve got yourself a delicious smoothie that will give you great nutrients to keep you going throughout the day.
