Be Your Own Valentine with these Self Care Tips

Mort of the time when Valentine’s rolls around, we either focus on our relationship or our lack thereof. However, it doesn’t matter if you’re coupled or single, what is important is to also love yourself.

Self-Love

We’re not saying you shouldn’t share your love with those who are important to you. What we are saying is to value and prioritize yourself as well.

So, whether you have plans with a significant other or you’re flying solo, you can still be your own Valentine. And here are just a few self-love suggestions to help you out.

1. Be Positive

Start the day off with a positive outlook by choosing an encouraging mantra and living it. This can help you take on the day with vitality, confidence, and dignity. Know that you can be anything you want to be – and don’t listen to your inner critic.

2. Get Pumped

Whether you believe it or not, exercise can be seriously mood-lifting thanks to the endorphins it releases. So, find a workout you enjoy and really get into it. Working out doesn’t need to be for weight loss or body-building. Instead, do it for the fun of it and how it makes you feel.

Not into working out? Don’t sweat it, spend some time meditating or take a walk outside. The main thing is getting out, being active, and getting away from the monotony of daily life.

3. Respect Yourself

Don’t worry about gaining the approval of others. Be your own person with your own creative expressions – if others don’t appreciate it, it’s their loss.

It’s important to be realistic – not everyone is going to be happy all of the time. Recognize that the seemingly perfect veneer you see on Instagram and social media is not how people really live.

You are enough and then some, because you are you and you are wonderful.

4. Indulge Yourself

If you want chocolate for Valentine’s Day, go get yourself some chocolate. Want to relax with your favorite bath bomb? Get it and enjoy it. Does having flowers around the house make you feel more joyous?

Pick up a bouquet of your faves. Feel like grabbing some popcorn and spoiling yourself with a Netflix or Hulu binge? Stop worrying about being productive and do what you want.

Valentine’s is a fantastic time to show yourself some love with the little indulgences you enjoy most.
