Five Ways in Which You Can Heighten Your Spirituality

People generally have their own definitions of spirituality. The idea of being spiritual or feeling awakened can have completely different meanings for one person compared to another.

However, there is one definition we’ve felt seriously resonates with a great many people.

Spirituality

Instead of spirituality being a reflection of how often we attend church or how frequently we meditate, there’s a deeper meaning. Spirituality, at least for us, is about our own capacity to accept guidance.

Soon, you’ll see the more you’re willing to act on the guidance you receive, the more spiritually attuned you’ll feel. Based on that idea, here are a few suggestions to help guide you in better developing and deepening your spirituality.

Be Present and Available

If you’re anxious or uneasy about the future, you should try to make yourself available for spiritual guidance. Dwelling on the past? Again, it’s important to bring yourself back to the present.

Forget expectations, don’t worry about how you think things should be, and try to silence your ego.

When your awareness is firmly in the present, that’s when you’re most likely to receive the guidance you seek.

Ask for Guidance

Take time out here and there every day to ask questions – whether out loud or in your head. This way the powers that be will know you’re seeking help or advice.

Pay Attention

How can you receive guidance if you aren’t paying attention when it arrives? Be mindful of where your attention goes and in what forms guidance is presented to you.

For some, it may be as simple as hearing things. For others, you may find yourself drawn to certain people, objects, or conversations. Over time, you’ll learn exactly where to look.

Take Time to Meditate

Meditation and/or prayer is still incredibly important when it comes to spirituality. It helps you to be more present and makes you even more open to guidance.

Spend at least a few minutes a day in silence, just sit and breathe. You’ll likely find this helps you become more receptive.

Be Clear in Your Intentions

Every night, before you go to bed, make your intentions known. When you wake up, be sure to write down all the details you can remember from your dreams.

Keeping a dream journal is a great way to keep track of things that come to you in your sleep. As you record things, it should become easier to remember what transpired in your dreams.
